How do we obtain data?
The data that we collect about individuals is all data that can be found publicly, for example a person’s name & job title from LinkedIn, their inclusion on a list of speakers from a trade show, or available on a company’s website. Our expertise lies with finding this public data, and then leveraging it to fulfil the direct marketing requirements of our clients. We employ the same methodology to prospect for new business for Deveo.
Do we use automated collection techniques?
Why do we collect this information, and what legal ground to we have to do so?
We collect information to enable us to run lead generation, meeting arrangement, contact data acquisition and event registration services in the Telco & Broadcast industries. Our legal basis for doing so is that of ‘legitimate interest’ and is fully GDPR compliant.
What information do we collect?
We collect only the information sufficient to make first contact with a person in a B2B setting. This typically includes their name, job title and professional phone number & email address. We never look for or store non-professional information, for example a person’s home address or personal email address.
Do we transfer this information to other parties?
DEVEO is contracted by other companies to provide fully qualified leads for lead generation and meeting arrangement campaigns, and to provide details of people who will be relevant for our clients’ marketing/sales departments to connect with regarding a specific product or solution for contact data acquisition campaigns. We only provide our clients with the minimum relevant information necessary to advance the lead in a B2B setting, which will typically include their name, position, company, professional phone number & email address and LinkedIn URL, and for lead generation or meeting arrangement campaigns for these mutually interested leads we provide the nature of their interest in the solution or services provided by our client. We will also share data in the following circumstances:
- External processing: We transfer information to our corporate affiliates, service providers, and other partners who process it for us, based on our instructions, and in compliance with this policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. These partners provide us with services globally, including for information technology, marketing services such as bulk emailing, SMS and surveys.
- For legal reasons: We may preserve or disclose information about you if we believe in good faith this is to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; to assert legal rights or defend against legal claims; or to prevent, detect, or investigate illegal activity, fraud, abuse, violations of our terms, or threats to the security of the Services or the physical safety of any person.
How long do we store data for?
We store data for as long as an individual is in a relevant industry, and in such a position as to be interested in a possible business collaboration. We ensure through rigorous data cleaning measures that we remove any individuals who are no longer in a relevant industry.
What are your rights?
Any individual on which we hold data has the right to know and access what information we hold on them, and to have incorrect information updated. We will supply electronically within one month this data on request.
Any individual on which we hold data has also the right to be forgotten, and we will erase all data related to them with the exception of their professional email address, which we will include in our suppression lists to ensure that no further electronic communications can be made.
Any individual has the right to opt-out of direct marketing materials, and may do so using the link included on every email we send, or by replying to the message with ‘unsubscribe me’.
What are your rights to contact a supervisory authority?
If you feel that we have not respected your privacy, then you retain the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.
How do we keep our data secure?
We work hard to keep our data safe. We use a combination of technical, administrative, and physical controls to maintain the security of our data, including performing regular security audits to ensure that we are taking every possible action to keep our data safe.
